This error is most commonly caused by the SIM Card tray not being locked into position.
Follow the steps below to safely insert the SIM card. You can also watch the video below for a quick walkthrough of the process.
- Turn off the phone.
- Remove the battery. Twist the D-ring screw left to unlock the battery.
- Insert the SIM card into the SIM card slot. Make sure the cut corner of the SIM card matches the cut corner in the slot.
- Close the SIM card door and slide the SIM card slot to lock it in place. Ensure you hear the "click" sound once the SIM tray door is locked.
- There is an arrow on the SIM tray indicating the way to slide to unlock/open the tray. Sliding the tray opposite the arrow will lock the tray.
- Reinsert the battery. Twist the D-ring screw clockwise to secure the battery. Press firmly on the center of the battery to make sure it’s properly seated.
If the SIM card error issue persists, ensure your service is active if it's a monthly plan SIM card. If you are using a prepaid SIM card, ensure that you have a balance of minutes.
