If your Iridium Extreme® remains on “Searching for Network” and does not register, it usually means the phone can’t reach the satellite network. This guide provides simple steps to help your handset connect successfully.
Tip: Your phone must have a clear, unobstructed view of the sky to register on the Iridium network.
Steps to Connect
Move to an open area. Ensure you are outdoors with a clear view of the sky and no tall buildings, trees, or obstructions nearby.
Extend and position the antenna. Fully extend the antenna and keep it upright, pointing toward the sky for the best signal reception.
-
Exit power-saving mode (if applicable). If the phone was recently indoors or in an area with no signal, it may enter power-saving mode to conserve battery life.
You can wait for it to automatically exit this mode (typically within 1–2 minutes), or
Turn the phone off and back on to speed up the network registration process.
Check for external antenna connections. If you’re using an external antenna adapter base (with a pigtail connector), disconnect it and try registering again with only the internal antenna. This adapter disables the phone’s built-in antenna when attached.
Wait for registration. Once connected, the display will show Registered, confirming a successful connection to the Iridium network.
Best Practices
Keep the phone stationary and the antenna vertical while registering.
Avoid holding the phone close to your body during registration, as this can block the antenna.
Allow up to one minute for the phone to fully register, especially after being powered on or moved between locations.
