This article walks through common reasons outgoing calls fail in the Iridium GO! app and how to resolve them.
Solution 1: Check the signal and dialing format
Follow these steps to confirm the device is registered on the Iridium network and that the number is dialed correctly.
Extend the antenna to power on the Iridium GO!.
Wait until the screen shows “Searching,” followed by “Iridium,” which confirms registration.
Make sure at least three signal bars are displayed. More bars usually improve call reliability.
Connect your Android or iOS device to the Iridium GO! Wi-Fi network.
Open the Iridium GO! app. Log in using:
Username: “guest”
Password: “guest”
Select “Call.” Press and hold the “0” key until the “+” symbol appears. Dial the full number using international format:
country code, area or city code, phone number
Example: +1 416 253 6008
Select the green phone icon to place the call.
Solution 2: Clear the Iridium GO! app data
If dialing and signal look correct, resetting the app can help.
Android
Go to “Settings,” then select “Apps” or “Application Manager.”
Select “Iridium GO!” from the list.
Select “Clear data,” then “Clear cache.”
Select “Force stop.”
Return to your home screen.
Repeat Solution 1 starting from Step 4.
iOS
iOS does not allow clearing app data without removing the app. Choose one of the options below.
Option 1: Delete and reinstall the app
Go to “Settings” → “General” → “iPhone Storage.”
Select “Iridium GO!,” then select “Delete App.” Confirm by tapping “Delete” again.
Download and reinstall the Iridium GO! app from the App Store.
Option 2: Offload the app
This removes the app but keeps some stored data.
Go to “Settings” → “General” → “iPhone Storage.”
Find “Iridium GO!” in the list.
Select “Offload App,” then confirm.
Solution 3: Disable Captain or Crew Calling
If Captain or Crew Calling is enabled, it may prevent standard outgoing calls.
Open the Iridium GO! app and select “Settings.”
Select “Captain/Crew Calling.”
Turn off “Enabled.”
Use your phone’s back button to return to the main screen.
