Overview
The Iridium® satellite network will undergo a Time Re-Epoch event on January 14, 2026, at 18:08:00 UTC.
As a result, some Iridium devices may display an incorrect time and date. Device functionality is not impacted, and calling, messaging, and data services will continue to work normally.
To restore the correct time and date, users can enter a key sequence or update device firmware. Entering the key sequence is the fastest and preferred solution.
Important note for docking station users:
If your device is used with a docking station, do not update firmware until you have confirmed dock compatibility. Some docking stations only support specific handset firmware versions, and upgrading the handset firmware before the dock firmware is available may cause compatibility issues.
If you are unsure, refer to your docking station manufacturer for guidance before performing any firmware update.
Affected devices
The following devices may display an incorrect time and date after the Re-Epoch event:
Iridium 9555
Iridium Extreme®
Iridium Push-To-Talk
Iridium GO!®
Not impacted
Iridium GO! exec® – No action required
Preferred solution – Enter the key sequence
For supported handsets, entering the key sequence is the simplest and quickest way to restore the correct time and date. This method does not require a firmware update.
Supported devices
Iridium 9555
Iridium Extreme®
Iridium Push-To-Talk
Steps:
Power on the handset.
From the dial pad, enter the following sequence exactly as shown:
*#99#2025021418141710#Press the green Call key.
Turn the handset OFF.
Turn the handset back ON.
Wait for the device to register on the Iridium network.
Once registration is complete, the handset will automatically update to the correct time and date.
Important
Network registration may take several minutes, depending on signal conditions.
For best results, complete this process outdoors with a clear view of the sky.
The handset should display “Registered” to confirm successful network registration.
If the device is powered on indoors without a signal, the time and date may not update.
For users who store their device for emergency use, it is recommended to complete this process ahead of time and confirm the time and date are correct before storing the handset again.
If the time or date is still incorrect
If the time appears incorrect after completing the steps above, the handset time zone may need to be adjusted.
Adjust the time zone settings
Press Menu.
Scroll to Setup and press Select.
Scroll to Time & Date and press Select.
Scroll to Select Time Zone and press Select.
Choose the correct UTC time zone for your location and press Select.
The device will now display the accurate local time and date.
