Before using your IsatPhone 2, the handset must connect to the Inmarsat satellite network. These steps will help you point the antenna correctly, acquire a signal, and confirm that your phone is ready for use.
How to Connect
Extend and point the antenna. Fully extend the antenna and point it straight upward toward the sky.
Face the right direction. Turn your body and the phone so that the antenna faces roughly toward the Equator, where the Inmarsat satellites are positioned.
Move to a clear area. Go outside with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. Avoid trees, buildings, vehicles, and overhead structures.
Wait for the signal. Watch the signal bars on the screen. They will begin to appear as the phone searches for the satellite.
Confirm connection. When the screen displays Ready for service, the handset is connected and can place or receive calls and messages.
Additional Guidance
The video below explains how to aim your phone for the best signal. If you don’t see any signal bars, slowly rotate your body or turn the phone about 90 degrees at a time until the signal bars appear. The Inmarsat satellites remain fixed over the Equator, so direction matters.
