How To Make a Test Call with Your Rental Device

If you are using an Iridium handset with active service, you can make a test call free of charge. Note that all rental kits are on the Iridium network. Testing your device before travel is highly recommended to ensure your handset is fully operational when you need it. 

1. Take your device outside.
2. Extend your antenna and ensure you have a clear line of sight to the sky, preferably away from any large obstructions or heavy canopy.
3. Press and hold the power button to power on your handset. After booting up, the phone should indicate "Searching for Iridium...".
4. Wait for the handset to display "Registered". A green LED indicator will also be displayed indicating you have signal.
5. Dial the Iridium Test number: +1-480-752-5105 (press and hold 0 to obtain +) or dial 00-1-480-752-5105.
6. Press the GREEN button (or the 'OK' button on the 9505A) to initiate the call.
7. If your call is successful, you'll hear an automated greeting stating your call has been successfully connected.
8. To end a call, press the RED button.

IMPORTANT:

• All outbound calls/SMS must use full international dialling sequence as indicated above. Dial + OR 00, then [country code] [area code] [phone number]. 
• Calls to the free Iridium test number will not show up on postpaid monthly invoices under Device usage reports.
