Below is a list of required and recommended apps to use in conjunction with the Iridium GO! exec. These are available by searching for them on the Android Google Play or the Apple iOS App Store.
Iridium will keep an updated list at this link: www.iridiumgoexec.com/apps
Required: Iridium GO! exec App:
The Iridium GO! exec app is the only required application for the Iridium GO! exec. It lets you connect your smartphone or tablet to the device to place calls, adjust settings, manage data connections and profiles, configure SOS and perform any device function directly from your mobile device. It is also the only way to install firmware updates on the Iridium GO! exec.
The app is required only when placing calls from a connected smartphone. It is not required to place calls directly on the Iridium GO! exec or to use data through the device itself. If the app is not installed, you can still connect to the Iridium GO! exec by joining its Wi-Fi network manually on your phone or computer, then starting a data session and selecting a profile using the device’s touchscreen Internet Connection Manager. Voice calls can also be made directly on the device using the built-in microphone and speakers.
Optimized Apps (for low data bandwidth)
All the apps below are optional. They are recommended for the best usage experience with low-data bandwidth connections, such as those of the Iridium GO! exec. Please note that the Iridium Mail app has been discontinued.
The Iridium Chat app uses Certus IMT (Iridium Messaging Transport) to communicate over the Iridium network. This is not the same as SMS, and is highly recommended for all Iridium GO! exec users. User guide is linked.
OCENS OneMail (paid subscription)
Compresses Gmail, Yahoo!, Hotmail, and other e-mail account messages for faster, more reliable transfers.
PredictWind Offshore (free/paid options)
Tools, weather routing, and departure planning. Weather models: PWG, PWE, ECMWF, GFS, SPIRE, and UKMO.
Popular Apps
These applications are not optimized for satellite data, so it’s best to prepare your messages or emails first, then start your data session, send or receive what you need, and disconnect right away. This helps prevent unnecessary data use and unexpected charges.
