Iridium Extreme - Charging, USB, External Antenna Adapters

Included with the Iridium Extreme® are two adapters. These adapters attach to the bottom of your phone and are required for charging, connecting the USB data cable, or using the external antenna. These adapters are designed to provide a robust and flexible approach to using external accessories with the Iridium Extreme®. 

Important: Using either adapters will disable the device's antenna. As such, they must not be used unless you are charging the device, or connected with an external antenna. Otherwise, you will not be able to connect to the network. 

Installing the adapters on the Iridium Extreme

In order to charge, use the USB port, or connect an external antenna, the appropriate adapter must first be selected and attached to the bottom of the phone. 

1. Open your phone’s accessory connector cover on the bottom of your phone and move it to the back of your phone, securing it to the rear retaining features.
2. Select the appropriate adapter and orient it with the bottom of the phone so the Iridium brand is facing forward.
3. Press the adapter up until the side clasps are locked into place and the adapter is securely fastened to your phone. 

Antenna Adapter & Antenna 

The Antenna Adapter allows you to connect your Iridium Extreme Satellite Phone to an external antenna.

An external antenna enhances signal reception, especially in environments where the phone's internal antenna may not suffice, such as inside vehicles or buildings.

The adapter uses a TNC female connector to attach to an antenna cable with a TNC male connector.

Important:

• The External Antenna adapter should only be used if you are planning to connect an external antenna. While this adapter is connected, the use of your phone’s internal antenna will temporarily be suspended. 
• To use the phone you must attach an external antenna to the adapter or remove the adapter from the phone.

Installation Steps:

1. Complete the steps above for Installing the adapters on Iridium Extreme. Ensure the adapter with the TNC female port is selected. 
2. Connect the external antenna cable (via the TNC male connector) to the adapter's female TNC connector. Ensure the connection is snug and secure. 
3. For optimal performance, place the external antenna in a location with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky.
4. Once connected, check the phone's display to ensure that it has registered with the Iridium network and has strong bars of signal.
