The steps below detail the process of making a call from your Iridium Extreme device to a cell phone.
1. Ensure you have a clear, unobstructed view of the sky with the antenna fully extended. The phone should display at least 2–3 signal bars and show ‘Registered’, indicating a connection to the Iridium network.
2. Enter the number using the keypad. As you begin entering digits, you see Options displayed above the left soft key and Clear displayed above the right soft key.
- Enter the number in international format: + or 00 [country code] [Area code] [phone number].
-
The Iridium Extreme automatically adds the + symbol for the international access code when you hold the 0 key. The only numbers that are required to add are the country code and phone number.
Examples: - To call a U.S./Canada number: +1 or 001 [Area code] [Phone number]
- To call another Iridium phone number: + or 00 8816 [Satellite phone number]
Note: All Iridium phone numbers begin with the country code of 8816. The country code for the USA and Canada is 1.
- Other country code information can be found at How do I locate the country code for a phone number?
3. Press the GREEN key to place the call.
4. The display will show a “Connecting” message as the call attempts to go through.
5. Once connected, a call timer will appear on the screen.
6. To end the call, press the RED key.
