Your Iridium Extreme® includes two phone books that make it easy to store and manage contact information. You can add, edit, and delete entries in your personal phone book or view pre-programmed numbers stored on the SIM card.
Tip: Always store numbers in international format to ensure calls and messages connect correctly from anywhere in the world.
Types of Phone Books
My Phonebook
Editable by user: You can create, edit, or delete entries directly on the phone.
Storage capacity: Up to 100 entries.
Data stored: Name, phone numbers, email addresses, and notes.
Location: Stored in the phone’s internal memory.
SIM Phonebook
Not editable by user: Usually pre-programmed by your service provider.
Data stored: Names and phone numbers.
Location: Stored directly on the SIM card.
Note: Entries saved to My Phonebook remain available even if you remove or replace your SIM card.
Accessing My Phonebook
From the main screen, press the Left Soft Key under Menu.
Use the Navigation Keys to highlight My Phonebook.
Press the Left Soft Key again to Select.
You’ll now see a list of your stored contacts.
Adding a New Phonebook Entry
From the My Phonebook screen, press the Left Soft Key under Options.
Scroll to New and press Select.
On the new entry screen, use the Navigation Keys to move between fields.
Enter the contact details (name, number, email, notes, etc.).
When finished, press the Left Soft Key under Save.
Important: Enter all phone numbers in full international format: + [Country Code] [Area Code] [Phone Number]. Example: The Iridium test number can be entered as +14807525105 or 0014807525105.
Accessing and Managing Entries
From My Phonebook, use the Navigation Keys to highlight a contact.
Press the Left Soft Key to Select.
Choose from the available options:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Call | Place a phone call to the selected contact. If multiple numbers are stored, choose from the list. |
| SMS | Send a text message. If multiple numbers or email addresses are available, choose from the list. |
| Edit | Modify an existing entry. |
| Delete | Remove the entry from your phone book. |
| New | Create a new contact. |
Tip: Use short, recognizable names for easy searching, especially in low-light or outdoor conditions.
Best Practices
Keep emergency contacts at the top of your list for quick access.
Review entries regularly to remove duplicates or outdated numbers.
Save important Iridium service numbers (such as support or voicemail) in both My Phonebook and your SIM phonebook.
