Your Iridium Extreme® can send automated GPS location updates by SMS. To enable tracking, you’ll first turn on the GPS feature, then choose who receives the messages, and finally set how often the updates are sent.
Tip: Make sure your phone has a clear view of the sky whenever sending or receiving GPS-based messages.
Step 1: Enable GPS on the Iridium Extreme
Press the Left Soft Key to open Menu.
Select Setup.
Select Location Options.
Select GPS Options.
Select GPS On/Off.
Choose Enabled.
Once GPS is turned on, continue to Step 2.
Step 2: Configure the Message Recipient
This sets where your GPS tracking messages will be sent.
Press Menu.
Select Setup.
Select Location Options.
Select Message Options.
Select Regular Update.
Select Update Recipient.
Enter the recipient’s email address or phone number.
Select Save.
Tip: Confirm the number or email is correct to avoid sending updates to the wrong recipient.
Step 3: Configure the Tracking Interval
This controls how frequently the Iridium Extreme sends GPS updates.
Press Menu.
Select Setup.
Select Location Options.
Select Message Options.
Select Regular Update.
Select Update Frequency.
Choose the interval for sending GPS messages.
Note: Shorter intervals will use more battery power and may create more SMS usage depending on your plan.
Best Practices
Keep the antenna extended and the phone upright for accurate GPS acquisition.
Use longer intervals when battery life is a priority.
If tracking messages stop sending, verify signal strength and confirm that GPS is enabled.
