Before taking your inReach device on a trip, it’s a good idea to test it outdoors with a clear view of the sky. This confirms your satellite subscription is active and that the device can successfully send and receive messages.

How to perform a test
Follow these steps directly on your inReach device.
Scroll to “Test” on the device screen, then press the checkmark button.
Select “Test,” then press the checkmark button again to begin.
Your inReach will send and receive a test message. Allow a few minutes for the process to finish.
When the test completes, “Test Successful” will appear on the screen.
Select “Done,” then press the checkmark button.
Once complete, your inReach is ready for use.
