IMPORTANT: We strongly recommend familiarising yourself with and testing your rental phone once received, before heading off-grid.
Your Iridium 9555 rental phone comes ready with active service and includes two batteries. No SIM activation or setup is required, and you do not need to purchase a SIM card.
For safety and air-transport compliance, spare lithium-ion batteries are shipped at a reduced charge level in accordance with updated IATA regulations for 2026. The battery will charge normally once you receive it.
Please do not remove the SIM card from the phone unless you are troubleshooting, as it is part of the rental package and must be returned with the device, along with all accessories included in the rental package.

Calling & SMS Usage
- Outgoing call minutes and SMS are pay-per-use unless you purchased an airtime add-on (minute package) at checkout.
- Minute packages only cover outgoing calls. They do not cover SMS usage.
- Standard per-message rates apply for all SMS.
- Package minutes are used first, and once depleted, standard burn rates will apply.
- Rental phones do not "run out" of minutes. They switch to standard rates after the package is used up.

Rental Billing
- Charges begin on your selected start date (chosen at checkout), not the delivery date.
- Our Production Team may ship your rental early to ensure it arrives on time; you won't be charged for the extra days.
- Rentals cannot ship on weekends or holidays.
- A signature is required upon delivery of your rental order.
Shipping & Returns
- Shipping is charged at a fixed rate and includes a prepaid return waybill (return shipping label).
- Charges stop when the return waybill is scanned at the courier drop-off office.
- You aren't charged for return transit time.
- After the initial week, your services are prorated daily until returned ($8 per day).
- The rental can only be returned in the US if it was ordered through Bluecosmo and shipped to a US address.

Loss & Damage Insurance
Without Loss and Damage Insurance, customers are responsible for:
- Any theft, damage, or loss of items, including:
- The device
- All accessories
- The SIM card
If the device is stolen, a copy of the police report is needed.

Rental Pricing & Billing Details

- Iridium 9555 Satellite Phone – Weekly Rental
- First week: $56
- After first week: $8 per day (prorated)
How rental billing works:
- The first week is billed at the full weekly rate.
- After the first week, rental time is prorated daily.
- Minimum 1-week rental applies.
- No credit for early returns.
- Rental charges stop when the return waybill is scanned by the courier.
- Time in transit is not billed.
Rentals are invoiced monthly if the rental extends beyond the first week.
Return Shipping
- A prepaid return shipping label is required for all rentals.
- Return shipping is billed with your order.
- We recommend getting a drop-off receipt from the courier.
- Billing ends when the waybill is scanned.

Loss & Damage Protection Details
If selected:
- Billed for one full week, then prorated daily
- Covers loss, theft, and accidental damage
- Rental and usage charges continue until the incident is reported
- Police report required in the event of theft
- Without coverage, the renter is responsible for the full replacement cost
Optional minute add-ons and protection cannot be added after the rental ships.
