Activating the IERCC (formally known as GEOS) SOS service ensures your emergency alerts are routed to a global search-and-rescue coordination center. The steps below guide you through registering your device with and configuring the SOS button on your IsatPhone 2.
Important
Your Inmarsat IsatPhone SIM must be active on a monthly or prepaid plan.
The GEOS SOS service is not enabled automatically; it requires registration and setup.
We recommend testing the SOS feature after configuration using the IERCC (GEOS) SOS Guide.
Step 1: Register with IERCC
Confirm that your SIM card is activated. New prepaid SIMs can be activated using BlueCosmo’s prepaid activation instructions. GEOS registration is free.
Visit the IERCC registration site and select “Register a Device”.
Under Device Information, choose Inmarsat ISAT 2.
Enter the IMEI, Device Phone Number, and IMSI. To locate these, go to Menu > Settings > About on your IsatPhone 2.
Complete the Account Information and Emergency Contact & Medical Instructions sections.
Check the box agreeing to the Garmin Terms & Conditions.
Submit the form. You will see a confirmation message and receive a welcome email from Garmin with the emergency contact numbers needed for configuration.
Step 2: Configure the IsatPhone 2 for GEOS (IERCC)
Press Menu.
Select Location Services and press Select.
Select Assistance Button and press Select.
Select Configure and press Select.
Select Call Config and press Select.
Select Edit recipient and press Select.
Select Add New Recipient and press Select.
Enter GEOS as the Nickname. Enter +19365823190 in the Telephone field and press Save.
Press Back twice to return to the Assistance Button configuration screen.
Select Message Config and press Select.
Select Edit Recipient, press Select, then press Options.
Select Add New Recipient and press Select.
Select Text Message and press Select.
Enter GEOS as the Nickname and add the first number: enter +61428029345 and press Save > Confirm.
IMPORTANT: If you receive a “Message Failed” error during testing or if your firmware is 02.00.03, replace the + with 00 when entering these numbers.Press Options and select Add New Recipient again.
Select Text message and enter the second GEOS number: +870776400464. Press Save > Confirm.
Press Back twice to return to the Assistance Button configuration screen.
Select Assistance feature and press Select.
Select Enabled and press Select.
When asked to confirm registration with GEOS, press Confirm to continue.
The IsatPhone 2 is now configured for the GEOS SOS service. Press the red key to return to the home screen.
