How Prepaid Balances Are Displayed
In the Manage Prepaid Refills section of your BlueCosmo account, the balance shown is based on voice minutes, even if your plan is primarily intended for data use.
Because voice calls consume minutes at twice the rate of dial-up data, the number displayed may seem lower than the total data minutes you’ve purchased.
Converting Voice Minutes to Data Minutes
To calculate your remaining dial-up data minutes, simply double the number of voice minutes shown in your account.
Examples:
- A 400 data minute SIM card that has not been used will show a balance of 200 voice minutes in the account.
- A 1000 data minute SIM card that has a balance of 300 voice minutes will actually have 600 data minutes remaining.
This conversion applies to any Iridium GO! prepaid plan.
Why This Happens
Iridium GO! voice calls use twice as many minutes per connection compared to using data for services like:
- Email and weather downloads via the Iridium Mail & Web App.
- Other dial-up data transmissions through the Iridium GO! device.
This is a normal part of how the Iridium GO! prepaid plans are structured. For more details, please visit the GO! product support page on the website.
