This article explains how to check the current firmware version on your Iridium GO! device and how to install a firmware update. Keeping the firmware up to date helps ensure reliable operation and access to the latest improvements.
Important: Only install the latest firmware version. Do not attempt to downgrade to an older version. A computer is required to complete the update. Firmware updates cannot be performed from a phone or tablet.
You can check the firmware version either on the Iridium GO! device itself or through the Iridium GO! app.
On the Iridium GO! device
Power on the device by lifting the antenna or holding the power button.
Press the left or right navigation key to open the menu.
Press NEXT until INFORMATION is displayed.
Press SELECT.
Note the firmware version shown next to “f/w”.
Using the Iridium GO! app
Connect your phone or tablet to the Iridium GO! Wi-Fi network.
Open the Iridium GO! app.
Sign in using the default credentials:
Username: guest
Password: guestNavigate to HELP > ABOUT.
The firmware version is listed under Iridium GO! Firmware Version.
Download and install the firmware update
Before you begin
Ensure the Iridium GO! is fully charged and powered on.
Use a Windows or macOS computer.
Connect the computer to the Iridium GO! Wi-Fi network.
Downloaded firmware files must be unzipped before installation.
Download the firmware
Download the latest firmware listed under “Download vX.X.X (Users)”.
Unzip the file and save it to your desktop.
Install the firmware
Power on the Iridium GO! and allow it to fully boot.
On your computer, connect to the Iridium GO! Wi-Fi network. The network name will appear as IRIDIUM-xxxxx.
Open a web browser and go to http://192.168.0.1
Log in using:
Username: guest
Password: guestSelect the System tab.
Click Choose File and locate the unzipped firmware file with the .frm extension (for example, maxwell-vX.X.X.frm).
Click Upgrade.
Wait for the update to complete. This process takes about 15 minutes, and a progress bar will display the status.
When finished, the Iridium GO! will reboot automatically and be ready for use.
Troubleshooting firmware updates
If the Iridium GO! becomes stuck on “Initializing” or repeatedly reboots during the firmware update, please contact Technical Support for assistance.
