Are you having trouble sending SMS messages with your Iridium Extreme? Follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue. If it’s still not working, our support team is ready to help.
Solution One: Check and program the service center number:
- Press the Menu button.
- Select Messages, then go to Settings.
- Choose Service Center (the current number will display).
- If necessary, enter 00881662900005.
- Press OK to save.
- Send a new message.
Solution Two: Confirm you are using the correct dialing format:
- Ensure you’re outside with a clear view of the sky, away from obstructions like trees, buildings, or power lines.
- Extend the antenna.
- Wait for the phone to register, the word Registered will appear on the display.
- Press Menu.
- Scroll to Messages and press Select.
- Select Create message and press Select.
- Enter your desired message (press the * key for special characters).
- Press Options when done.
- Select Send and press Select.
- Select New Recipient and press Add.
- Select Enter Number and press Select. You can also choose a contact from the list and press Select.
- Enter the contact's number, starting with + followed by country code, area code, and phone number, then press OK.
Example: +1 416 253 6008 - Press Send to send your message.
Solution Three: Ensure issue is not on the recipient's end
The recipient needs to be able to receive messages from international phone numbers, since your satellite phone is internationally formatted.
