The steps below detail the process of making a call from your Iridium 9555 device to a cell phone.
- Ensure you have a clear view of the sky, with the antenna fully extended.
- Power on the phone. The display will read Searching.
- Wait until the screen reads Registered which means it's connected to the Iridium network, and shows a solid 3-5 bars of signal.
- Enter the phone number using the keypad.
- As you begin entering digits, you see Options displayed above the left soft key and Clear displayed above the right soft key.
IMPORTANT: The cell phone number must be entered in international format: + or 00 [country code][phone number]. The country code for the USA and Canada is 1.

- As you begin entering digits, you see Options displayed above the left soft key and Clear displayed above the right soft key.
- To place the call press the green key.
- The display will show a message showing you it is connecting to the number entered in step one.
- Once the call is connected the display will show a call timer.
- To end the call press the red button.
Try to dial the Iridium Test number: +1-480-752-5105 (press and hold 0 to obtain +) or dial 00-1-480-752-5105.
IMPORTANT:
- All outbound calls/SMS must use full international dialing sequence as indicated above. Dial + OR 00, then [country code] [area code] [phone number].
- Calls to the free Iridium test number will not show up on postpaid monthly invoices under Device usage reports.
- All Iridium subscriber numbers begin with country code of 881. The receiving phone's caller ID will show +8816xxxxxxx [your Iridium phone number].
