Iridium satellite phones are international phones, placing a phone call from them always follows the same pattern no matter where the phone is located.

To dial a phone number from an Iridium phone:
- Go outdoors and get into a location with as much clear view of the sky as possible, away from buildings, fences, dense forest, and other obstructions. Extend the antenna, point the tip of the antenna at the sky, and power on the phone.
- The phone will power on, show a splash screen then the display will read Searching. Wait until the screen reads Registered and shows a solid 3-5 bars of signal.
- Dial out by pressing and holding the 0 (zero) key until a plus appears.
- Dial the phone number you wish to call, including the country code and phone number. Note: The country code for Canada and the USA is 1. If you are dialing to another country you will need to locate their country code
- Press the green dial key
Example:
To dial the United States based Iridium test phone number you would
- Press and hold 0 until the + sign appears on the display
- Then dial the country code of 1
- Then the phone number including area code 4807525105
- The display should read +14807525105
- Press the green dial key
